Thanks for posting the youtube video, it helps me a lot. I did spent 90 minutes watching the debate. My first impressions are (1) Mainland China has a lot to learn from Hong Kong. I think the debate is fair and professional and allow voters to know the strength and weakness of the candidates better. It paves the road and gain confidence that HK people will be able to hold a democratic election. (2) i think Tang is better prepared of the three. He acts like, have the executive experience, and track record to maintain the prosperity of HK. Although, i am very disappointed with how handled his personal life, the other candidates were not successful to point out any major mistakes he made in public service. (3) i am concerned that Mr. Ho's party has only one goal in mind, that is voting by all. I agree that is very important. However, they did not give any idea whether they have the capabilty and knowknow to govern except to do survey and polls. Their constant attack on mainland can be counter productive. Their refusal to participate now to allow one of their party members to join the government cabinet is not wise. In US, we take a point to invite and allow opposition party members to join the cabinet. The idea is use the best talent to make the country or city-state should be the main goal of parties, i think. (4) i do not think that Mr. Leung deserve 40% support. Wonder where these numbers comes from? After watching the debate, i did not feel i can vote for him to govern HK. When audience asked him what achievements he has made to better HK. I was not impressed with his answer. When Tang attacked him, i felt the answer he gave was bordering on lies. He said, it is not on the official record. To me, that is a bs answer. I do not think that Tang or Leung are perfect candidates. In almost 99% of cases in the workd, there is no perfect candidates. Just look at USA for over 200 years of history. Most of the time, we just vote for less of two 'evils'. Somehow i come away not trusting on ability or honesty Mr, Leung on public matters which is more important in electing a governor. If i am forced to vote at this time, i lean towards Tang. But we still have time to make up our mind. Are there any other debates scheduled? Agsin thanks for posting.
